Possibilities and Scope of Automation |
| |
|
1. Semi – Auto |
Press a button to initiate regeneration / backwash. Unit goes into regeneration and back to service on its own. |
2. Fully Auto |
Automatic regeneration takes place based on external signals |
A.
|
Real Time clock (optional) : Regeneration starts at the programmed time and day of the week and unit goes back into service on its own once the regeneration is over.
|
|
B. |
Pump ON timer coupled with level controller : Pump on timer decides when the plant capacity is over & it needs regeneration. Regeneration starts after receiving signal from Astero Panel which has multiple function like ;
|
|
1.
2.
3.
|
Inbuilt Starter
Pump ON timer : This sends signal to Auto MPV whenever pump starts. The balance time left for regeneration is constantly displayed on Auto MPV. When balance time reaches zero , the unit goes into regeneration automatically.
Level controller : The raw water pump automatically starts and stops based on level in product water tank. Additionally if raw water tank is empty the RWP switches OFF automatically.
Current overload protection and single phase protection protects the raw water pump from burnouts & prevents shutdowns.

Flow sensor :- The Auto valve counts down the rogrammed output based on signal from flow sensor. When it reaches zero, the unit goes into regeneration automatically. |
|
| |
Brine Tank Automation :- |
A brine level switch can be inserted in the brine tank which switches between brine and water.
• When regeneration is initiated by any means , the Auto MPV first checks whether the Brine switch indicates presence of brine. If not it gives an alarm indicator.
• When regeneration step is over , if the brine switch still detects brine it gives an alarm ‘Regeneration incomplete’. |
| |
Spare Relay (Standard) :-
A spare relay output is available which can be programmed to start any time after start of cycle and for any duration upto 99 min. It’s possible uses are as follows;
- Remote (Panel) indication of regeneration in progress.
- Operation of ‘ fast rinse ’ solenoid valve for downflow softeners.
- Operation of ‘ raw water bypass ‘ solenoid valve during regeneration.
- Operation of ‘ regeneration suction ‘ solenoid valve in Auto D.M. plant.
- To bypass high pressure cut off of Hydro-pneumatic system during regeneration
|
| |
Second Spare Relay ( Optional) :-
This relay can be used to operate a remote (panel) annunciator whenever any fault condition occurs.
Conditions under which annunciator (buzzer) will activate ;
- If unit does not go from one step to another within specified time limit (200 sec.)
- When brine switch is provided and if brine is not ready at the start of regeneration.
- If brine still remains in brine tank at end of regeneration.
- Internal malfunction. (Reed switch short)
Automation for DM Plant and RO plant. As well as one operating one standby stream and communication between various MPV is possible based on your Automation requirement. |

DM Plant Automation
Automatic DM Plants
Following models of Automatic DM Plants can be offered by us.
Selection of DM scheme depends on
- Raw Water Analysis
- Output Water Quality Required
- Level of Automation required
- Qty. or OBR of DM Plant
- Two Bed Plant - --- Containing Automatic Cation + Anion Column.
- Two Bed Plant followed by Automatic Mixed Bed Unit
- Two Bed Plant followed by Automatic Cation Polisher
- Two Bed Plant followed by Mixed Bed Resin containing Non regenerated Super Charge resin.

Pre treatment of DM plant i.e. PSF & ACF can also be incorporated in Automation system. The Operation of Automatic MPV & features & advantages are listed below.
Signal to regenerate the Plant can be obtained or given by any or all of the following instruments.
• Conductivity High.
• pH Meter
• OBR -- Flow Meter |
| |
If conductivity or pH crosses the set limit plant can be automatically sent in re-circulation mode for pre-defined time. ( 5 to 10 min.s ) if conductivity or pH does not go below set value then Hooter will be ON,
Plant can also be programmed to go in Automatic regeneration mode . But it is necessary to ensure that Regenerants are ready when plant goes into regeneration. If regenerants are not ready either Product Quality or Quantity will get affected along with waste of time. The best option is to ensure / check the regenerants & then press the button to initiate the regeneration. Once the regeneration start button is pressed plant will automatically go into regeneration will come back to normal service operation again automatically.
Each & Every Step of Regeneration is displayed clearly with balance time remaining on Panel / Auto MPV.
Advance Features to Save Water and reduce fast rinse and slow rinse time are also available ask for it separately.
Brine switch interlock :
This has been reprogrammed to get a separate regeneration and slow rinse mode. If enabled and level switch / floaty is in regenerant tank connected to Auto MPV, then the regeneration time is counted down but reset when level in regenerant tank goes low. After this, the valve position remains unchanged but, a slow rinse time is counted down. In effect, the regeneration time becomes variable depending on the level switch & slow rinse time gets added.
